Humanitarian responseCrisis work in Lebanon
Much of my work in Lebanon has been shaped by crisis and humanitarian response. During one particularly difficult period, the country was hit by COVID-19, the Beirut port explosion, and an economic collapse in quick succession. I worked alongside NGOs and international organizations to document relief and reconstruction efforts — from repairing streets and homes to restoring museums. More recently, my work expanded across the MENA region, using digital communication to help educational and humanitarian resources reach the communities they were designed for.
Health advocacyCeliac community support
I have celiac disease myself, which is a big part of why I've spent the past few years building free, practical resources for the celiac community across the MENA region. I've run Gluten-Free Q&A since 2023, covering its hosting, development, design, and staff time myself so the information — where to eat safely, where to buy real gluten-free food, how to get a proper diagnosis — stays free for anyone who needs it, especially people who are newly diagnosed and don't know where to start. Since January 2026, that same focus carries into my work with the Gluten-Free Food Program, where I develop medical resources that reach a wide audience and publish the GF Brief, a twice-monthly news roundup for the community.
CommunityVolunteering from an early age
I've been involved with NGOs since middle school, and started leading their communication projects while still fairly young. That volunteer work — supporting elderly residents, and children living in poverty or in conflict zones — is where a lot of my instinct for this kind of work started. It taught me early on that communication can be more than something you produce well; it can be a practical way to support people and communities.
AccessibilityDesigning for everyone
As a web developer and front-end designer, I became genuinely interested in accessibility — the colors chosen, the fonts, making sure every interactive element works with a keyboard or a screen reader. I worked closely with blind users on some of that. That interest led me to apply for an Erasmus+ staff training scholarship while working at the Lebanese American University's marketing department in 2017, which took me to the Teiresias Centre at Masaryk University in Brno for hands-on training on supporting students with special needs and building solutions for them.
